1. How to Choose a Shipping Method
What are EORI and VAT numbers?
An EORI number is the identification number used by EU enterprises for import/export customs clearance; a VAT number is the value-added tax number. B2B imports usually require the consignee to provide EORI/VAT; under B2C or DDP terms, Fuxin can assist with the process.
How is UK VAT paid?
UK import VAT is generally calculated on goods value + freight + duties, at a rate of 20%. Under DDP terms, Fuxin can pay on your behalf and reflect it in the settlement statement; B2B customers can deduct it using their own VAT number.
2. Pricing & Quotation
How is Fuxin's freight composed, and what factors affect it?
Freight typically consists of first-leg pickup/delivery to warehouse, export customs declaration, international main-line transport, destination-country customs clearance and duties, and last-mile delivery. Factors affecting the quote include cargo weight and volume, transport mode (air/sea/rail), origin and destination, time requirements, and whether DDP tax payment is needed. The formal Fuxin quotation prevails.
How are volumetric weight and actual weight calculated, and which is charged?
Volumetric weight (dimensional weight) is generally calculated as length×width×height(cm)÷6000 (common for air freight, with slight variations by channel). The chargeable weight is the greater of actual gross weight and volumetric weight. Fuxin will clearly state the chargeable weight in its quotation to avoid disputes.
Does the quote include customs duties and taxes? Are there hidden fees?
Under DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms, the quote usually includes freight, customs clearance and estimated duties; under DDU terms it excludes destination-country taxes, which the consignee bears. Fuxin strives for transparent pricing; fuel surcharges and clearance miscellaneous fees are listed in the quotation. We recommend confirming the cost structure before placing an order.
Is there a big price difference between LCL and FCL?
FCL (Full Container Load) is priced per container, with a unit price usually lower than LCL (Less than Container Load); LCL is charged by volume/weight and suits small-batch cargo under a full container. The exact spread depends on route, season and volume; contact Fuxin for a comparative quote.
How to get a formal quote and long-term partnership discounts?
You can submit an inquiry on the website, or contact customer service or your account manager for a formal quotation. Annual partners and stable-volume customers can enjoy value-added services such as contract pricing, priority booking, and monthly billing; specific discounts are negotiated based on route and volume.
3. Transit Time & Routes
How long does China–Europe air, sea and rail each take?
China–Europe air door-to-door is about 5–10 days; sea FCL to port about 25–35 days, door-to-door about 35–50 days; China–Europe rail (block train) about 15–25 days. Actual transit is affected by origin, destination, flight/vessel schedules and clearance efficiency.
Are transit times to the UK, Germany, France and Poland different?
Base transit is similar; differences mainly come from destination-country clearance speed and last-mile distance. Because of its independent clearance system, the UK door-to-door is slightly longer by 1–3 days; Germany, France and Poland have higher clearance efficiency and mature delivery networks, so overall transit is more stable.
How can I track my shipment in real time?
Log in to Fuxin's MyLink system or the website query portal, enter the tracking number to see current status, history and ETA; key milestones (departure, arrival, clearance, delivery, signing) are also pushed automatically.
What factors affect actual transit time?
Main factors include flight/vessel frequency, customs inspection, destination holidays, extreme weather, remoteness of the delivery address, and document completeness. Fuxin uses MyLink to warn of anomalies and coordinate handling.
Are there express or faster channels?
Yes. For time-sensitive cargo you can choose direct air freight, international express or express parcel via dedicated lines; Fuxin can also coordinate priority space based on volume and peak demand. Contact customer service for specific transit and quotes.
4. Customs Clearance & Compliance
What documents are required for European customs clearance?
Usually commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading/waybill, EORI number (B2B), product description and HS code; some goods also need import license, CE/UKCA certification, certificate of origin, etc. Fuxin will help customers compile the document checklist in advance.
What are EORI and VAT numbers, and how to apply?
EORI is the EU import/export clearance ID, and VAT is the value-added tax number. B2B imports are usually provided by the consignee; under B2C or DDP, Fuxin can assist. Customers can apply to the destination country's tax/customs authority; Fuxin can provide guidance.
How is duty calculated, and what is the difference between DDP and DDU?
Duty = dutiable value × applicable rate; some goods are also subject to VAT. DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): the shipper bears taxes and duties for smoother clearance; DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid): the consignee pays. Fuxin can handle both.
Which products need CE / UKCA and other special certifications?
Electronics, machinery, toys, personal protective equipment, building materials, etc. entering the EU/UK usually require CE (EU) or UKCA (UK) certification and corresponding technical files. Missing certification may lead to detention; Fuxin will flag compliance requirements in advance.
What if goods are inspected or detained by customs?
Fuxin's clearance team will promptly cooperate with customs to supplement documents and explain the goods; if certification or declaration issues are involved, we assist the customer with rectification or formalities to minimize processing time and demurrage costs.
Can Fuxin handle European customs clearance on my behalf?
Yes. Fuxin operates self-owned bonded warehouses and local clearance teams in the UK, France, Germany and Poland, providing one-stop services including import clearance, DDP duty/VAT payment, and inspection coordination, with deep knowledge of each country's customs rules.
